Nominator's project description
| Professor Bassi is a pioneer in the understanding of pigment-protein interaction in photosynthetic light-harvesting complexes. His work generated essential insights into the regulation of photosynthetic energy conversion and protection against photo-oxidative damage. Optimising these processes is central for improving photosynthesis. During his Helmholtz-Humboldt Award stay, he will concentrate his research on light-harvesting complexes and carotenoid biosynthesis, towards the goal of engineering plants and algae as photobioreactors and sustainable energy source. |
